BayCon is the Bay Area’s longest running science fiction and fantasy convention. This was the 37th year of the convention run and is currently being held at the San Mateo Marriott, San Francisco Airport, California. I was asked to be Art Director, as well as Toastmaster for the convention in 2019. I was both honored and excited to do graphic design work for this convention.
Typically every year there is a different individual(s) who chair this convention and they pick a theme. This year the convention was chaired by Robert Toland and themed, “Insert Coin to Continue” as in to continue the run of the convention. He is a big fan of classic arcade games and the movie Tron. With this in mind I was able to create a logo that reflected and brought these concepts together.
From here we were able to continue forward generating interest in the convention. This logo made its first appearance at Worldcon76 in San Jose 2018 as a vertical banner at the fan tables.
